wizard no. 2!

This just in: I saw another wizard 15 minutes ago on Gay Street. Stan brought to our attention the "Chalice Warlock" of the Old City last month, but I guess one wizard was not enough for Knoxville!
I saw him coming up the street, but he ducked into the All Day Cafe by the cinema before I got close enough to document him. So I stood outside the door for five minutes pretending I was reading the Metro Pulse. At last he strode forth in all his glory. He actually nodded and looked in my eyes when he passed me. That made me feel a little guilty about stealing a picture of him while I "dialed a number" on my cell phone.
This begs the question: does he know the Chalice guy? are they enemies, or in a cool wizard club together? how do I get in that club?

is it clear that this is a different wizard? or could it be the same guy in different regalia?

no. i've seen him before! they ARE different.

my sources report that getting into the mage society of Knoxville typically involves drinking bat's blood or at the very least a triple ali (sp?) kick flip with your broom.

if it's just the bat's blood i'm in. not too sure about the kick flip though.

That is so freakin' awesome! I hope I'm there when the two of them throw down for the end-all wizard duel to decide who shall claim downtown as his domain and who shall be cast off into the darkness of West Knox forever. Hopefully no innocent bystanders will get caught in the crossfire and get turned into frogs or Republicans (zing!).

I won't troll anymore and let you kids have fun. If I left my name, it'd only make you angrier. Before I go though, I want to say I actually love downtown and hope hope it has better days. I just feel sorry for it, because honestly it's kind of a sad place. The sadness seems to turn into hatred for the west and I find it hilarious. Stay away from the West Knox coodieeeeeees! It must come from all those excellent private schools, movie theaters and SUVs. I'll see ya you over at the new IMAX when it comes to town. Maybe we'll get a spine shop too.

xoxo

i dont think any of us hate west; a lot of us choose to live downtown because we (me at least) dislike traffic and sprawl. also, downtown has more of a sense of community. we all love conversation and debate, and you certainly can feel free to refute all of my opinions. it's just that i, at least, like to know who i'm talking to. i will say this: i was a long time coming here, and it took me a long time to find a place i was comfortable calling a home and a community (something similar to what i had up in my old true blue home) so i am not going to feel bad about loving and defending downtown and also (simultaneously) disliking a lot of things that a trip down 40 reveals. nothing wrong with that. it's not hatred. it's simply a choice. and i am very far from being a hipster.

Shit, I was gonna say Canada, but I just figured West Knox would be more relatable. Chill out, anonymous.

i thought to myself: "wow, 12 comments. that's the most i've ever seen. awesome!"

i didn't realize we had an all out war going on.

not that we don't like opinions thus expressed, but when it comes to name-calling i reserve the right as administrator and therefore resident stalin-impersonator to edit, delete and refute (unchallenged) any comments i don't like that start popping up on the site.

those wishing to spread malice and discontent beware!!

That's Umoja Abdul-Ahad. He's one of the founders of the Kuumba Festival, and he spearheaded recycling programs in Knoxville's public housing, among other things. Very nice guy.
