1st week of March

The first week of March is looking busy and fun for Knoxville.

On the 6th, you've got the opening of the Crown and Goose in the Old City. If you go, let me know how it is. I am sure, actually, that many of the little knoxvillians will be there, but I will not. You've also got Ani DiFranco playing at the Bijou Theatre. If you were ever an angsty teen in the 90s, you perhaps enjoyed Ani DiFranco. I saw her once in Interlocken, MI, and she put on a good show.

Ron White is here for two dates the 7th and 8th @ the Tennessee Theatre. My parents are yankees, and they think this dude is hilarious. Same night, completely different vibe, is the Everybodyfeilds at the Bijou. This is a great, great band out of Johnson City. They are beautiful.

Oooh! Ooooh! Tom Jones is at the TN Theatre on the 9th! Awesome. I may go just to see how tan he is.

UPDATE: I got ahead of myself and forgot to mention that this Friday is also First Friday and the wonderful Bon Iver will be at the P-light on the 9th.

sounds like a good month of music. i've been looking forward to bon iver all february long. i had an angst-ridden girlfriend in the 90s that listened to ani difranco... based on that experience i'll be skipping her concert.
a friend of mine is having a furniture exhibit in the space next to nama on friday- everyone should check it out.

the sunsphere is not a wig shop, nor is it a squid. like the banner.

but i think we'd all prefer a squid to a wigshop, don't you?

No mention of Waffle House icon Kid Rock's show this weekend?

Oh yeah, Kid Rock will be here. TB arena on March 7. Kid Rock is nice and funny, which is a weird thing for me to say but it's true. I have no interest in his music. He is from Romeo and then Mt. Clemens Michigan.

squid?! that's obviously over-highlighted hair spewing forth from the sunsphere. that being said, it does kinda look like the glam rock version of a matrix sentinel.

This Friday is also the Knoxville Zombie Walk: http://tennessee.facebook.com/event.php?eid=21188219888

a zombie walk?!

wait, if you choose to be a zombie doesn't make you NOT a zombie? i thought that one of the key characteristics of zombiehood was that you were bitten and infected against your will and thus became a zombie.

seriously, i think this group may need to re-evaluate its raison d'etre.

i have very strong opinions about zombies and even though i'm obsessed with [read:killing] them, i wouldn't be able to bring myself to actually become one. but i promise to not bring my shotgun to first friday.

We'll have a vending machine full of kits-for-better-living at Gallery 1010 (113 S. Gay St). Pinhole cameras, alchemy kits, prophetic prints, and more: everything is $5 or less. Opening reception 6-9 pm. woot.

Those are my friend's pics from the Clarksville Zombie Walk last fall. They have them all over--I think the Nashville one is in April, and there's always at least one per year in Atlanta. (WOW my nerdity is showing...)

Don't let any of the zombies get you tonight! ^_^
