Rita's is open

Just saw this last night.

Has anyone been there? They have a huge flat screen tv. Looks yummy.

Our station did a live shot here earlier this week on our morning show. All of the smoothies and ice cream looked so good!

They were giving out freebies last week. I went twice. =)

The raspberry lemonade ice was brilliant!

I noticed it was open Monday night as I hurried across the square in the freezing cold and into La Costa. I was actually wishing there were such a thing as "hot beer." Frozen desserts were the last thing on my mind.

a fellow server brought over a smorgasborg of italian ice flavors to LaCosta on Rita's opening night. I tried them all and I must say, i wasn't that impressed...but their frozen custard was good. i wonder if it will make it through the winter?

but then, maybe they'll have time to work out the kinks and be rockin when the weather gets warm again.

Its kinda odd that someone opted to open a frozen treats place in the square, when marble slab has already been there a few months.

Also, are they a chain of restaurants or is this the only one?

Also what's the news with the Cherries internet cafe?

Ritas is a gelato chain from the north-- I would highly suggest it. I love the mint chocolate chip gelato, with the vanilla custard. Delicious. The lady who runs the joint seems hopeful for Rita's in the winter. It's a chain, so I think it will survive.

The owner, Nancy, is very friendly and the desserts there are great. I love the mint chocolate chip cream ice, as well (I don't think it's technically gelato, though), and the blendinis are amazing.

I believe they will make it through the winter (it's only 3 more months...), and the spring will be great for this place. I'm looking forward to it. In fact, they kick off the spring season by giving away free Italian ice on the first day of spring, which is March 20 of 2009.
