It's breakfast, it's breakfast tiiime

I know I keep mentioning this (and I promise I'll stop talking about it soon), but I've been involved in a drawn-out moving process for the past month. You know how disruptive your life gets when you're moving. I only just saw some of my pots and pans for the first time, and I can't seem to remember to stop by the grocery store to pick up some milk for breakfast ... which brings me to my question for y'all today.

I am a dedicated breakfast person. In my usual routine, that means coffee and cereal at the house. But in my moving routine, it means going out. So, I'm curious: what's your favorite non-brunch breakfast in Knoxville?

I'm sort of at a loss to name one myself. I prefer the bagel or lite breakfast sandwich at a coffeehouse kind of breakfast, which is surprisingly hard to find in this town. (Blackbird is good but too out of my way for a day at work.) I like a good trip to Pete's or Long's every so often but know better than to do that every single day.

So tell me, where should I be dining on weekday mornings while my world is still packed in boxes?

Pete's is great for their specials!

According Knoxify's survey, Pete's and Rankins take the cake, err, pancake.

Meant to include the link: Favorite breakfast spot in Knoxville?

Going to Java for a bagel, cream cheese, and coffee is one of my favorite things to do in Knoxville.

I recently went to Rankin's on North Central. It was spectacular.

For a less crowded spot, there's Sam's in the Medical Arts Building. I used to walk there from Maplehurst.

PS. very nice title there, mg :)

Vic and Bill's is good, up on Broadway a little past Mister Taco's. It's a little out of my way now, but I loved it when I lived a block away. Now that you're a North Knoxvillian it may be a good option for you.

mr. taco's?

Senor Taco en espanol, senorita! I affectionately called him Mister Taco the year I lived across the street.

P.S. has anyone else heard Hall of Fame Blvd. called the "Senor Taco Expressway"?

im at Old City Java basically every morning for coffee, and since I dont have any cream cheese in the house, I've been doing a bagel with Pesto Cream Cheese the past few mornings. Incredible!

Please try the yogurt parfait at Java!!! It includes home-made granola and fresh berries!
Market Square Kitchen has a great breakfast menu, and it's very affordable too.

Wait is that a Flight of the Concords-inspired title? If so, well done!

I never knew Market Square Kitchen had breakfast! I need to try Rankins too. This is exactly why I ask these questions.

Yes, Flight of the Conchords reference. It's my favorite of their songs. Love them.

And I wish Mr/Sr. Taco had breakfast. I don't know what it would be, but I'm sure it would be awesome.

Thanks for mentioning us, Modern Girl! We know that we are too out of the way for downtowners in the morning, but it's nice to hear you like our breakfast. :) We like it, too.

mg,
it would most likely involve a breakfast margarita.

and anon, i agree. the yogurt parfait thing at java is awesome. it makes you feel good eating it too.

i really like market square kitchen, but i've had such bizarre service when i go there. it's such a constant now that i kind of like it.

there's a sonic on broadway that serves tots. i call them "hashbrowns" because i eat them for breakfast.

two minutes in heaven is better than one minute in heaven.

wow. thank you ben.

the fried bologna at rankin's is fantastic. ask for "lonsdale ham" and they'll know what you're talking about.

I 2nd Market Square Kitchen.

Also try The Lunch House just off Magnolia near the interesection of Magnolia and Prosser. It's 3816 Holston Dr. They serve a mean breakfast.

the seƱor has breakfast, kinda. 3 different huevos on the menu. huevos divorciados is the best... 2 eggs perfectly cooked over easy, one covered with red sauce and one covered with green sauce - refried beans & rice in the middle. they do serve coffee, but i'm sure it's just as good with a margarita or a bloody mary.

The Amber on Broadway, right by the McDonald's at Knox rd. used to be MY PLACE, but I returned home to Knoxville this summer to find it nothing but a gravely lot. I shed a tear for the loss of the best $4 breakfast in knoxville: two bacon biscuits, hashbrowns, and sweet tea.

I know the Wigshop leans downtown, but as a non-native to Knoxville, I have to mention Best Bagels out here in the West. It's not pretty or trendy, but the sign does not lie. The bagels are terrific.

LOVE Best Bagels! Every time I am out that way I try to stop in for breakfast or lunch.
