Is it art? round 6

Walking the dog the other day, I saw this along the greenway. Now of course the "tags" are harder to defend as they are less expression of an idea and more like a dog peeing on a tree, but the pictures...

It takes a talented hand to produce something on that scale. I know I can't do that.

    Talent has nothing to do with it, says the grumpy old man. It could be the Mona Lisa, but if you are painting on something that does not belong to you, it is called "vandalism", and it is against the law.

    If art is defined as:

    "The quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance....except when done illegally."

    Then no, it's not art. Sorry.

    But if art is defined as:

    "The quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance"

    Then yeah, I'd say it's art for sure.
